RESIDENTS in Bradford have been reminded where they can dispose of their Christmas tree.

As Twelfth Night is here today, traditionally the day people take down their Christmas tree and festive decorations, Bradford Council has told people where they can dispose of their trees.

The Christian tradition dates back to the 4th century and marks the end of Christmas and it is seen as bad luck to keep a tree up after that date.

The local authority tweeted: "Are you looking to dispose of your Christmas tree?

"You can take your Christmas tree to any of our eight Household Waste Recycling Centres to be disposed of or, if you have a garden waste subscription, you can put this in your garden waste bin ready for your next collection."

The district's household waste recycling centres are at: Bowling Back Lane in Bradford; Dealburn Road in Low Moor; Dowley Gap in Bingley; Ford Hill in Queensbury; Golden Butts in Ilkley; Midland Road in Manningham and Sugden End in Keighley.
