Dry weather on Saturday morning came far too late to give any local clubs involved in the West Riding County Amateur League the chance of a match.

All games scheduled for council-owned venues were postponed on Thursday and clubs who have their own grounds were unable to get on the pitches to prepare them during the latter part of the week.

It was therefore possible to play only two games in the whole of the league.

These saw Division One Leaders Kirkburton beat Wakefield City 4-2 to move nine points clear at the summit.

And Ardsley Celtic had a 4-0 home win over Rawdon Old Boys in the Reserve Division to move second in the table, level on points with leaders Steeton.

With only just over three months until the end of the season, the league are now facing a serious backlog of fixtures.

And with many clubs still involved in their own local District FA Cup competitions, most will be playing two games a week during April and early May.

Meanwhile, it was a similar story on Sunday as only two local fixtures escaped the deluge.

These saw Mill Lane ease into the semi-finals of the Bradford & District Cup with a 6-1 victory at Aire Athletic.

The Aire goalkeeper did well to keep the score down as Steve Hollingworth struck yet another hat-trick for Mill Lane.

The only Sunday Alliance League to be played was in Division 3B and saw Manningham beat higher-placed Sandy Lane 2-1 thanks to goals by Naveed and Ismail Khan.
