IF people want to get healthier, be sociable and develop skills they should join a choir.
That's the view of Rob Voakes, chair of Bradford Festival Choral Society.
Mr Voakes adds: "We all want to improve our health and get out more after the miseries of 2021.
"People often don't realise that regularly rehearsing and performing with a choir is good for physical health and wellbeing, as well as introducing yourself to new music.
"Bradford has a great range of choirs. Big classical, choral societies like my own and Ilkley and Otley choral societies; local choirs like Village Voices, Baildon; choirs with a contemporary focus like Great Yorkshire Chorus; smaller groups with a mixed range of music like Chordiality; gender specific groups like Steeton Male Voice Choir and most recently the Bradford Friendship Choir which welcomes refugees, asylum seekers and supporters.
"They all offer great music, a chance to exercise your lungs, encourage good posture, and develop singing skills and musical knowledge.
"Bradford Festival Choral Society welcomes new members and starts rehearsing Bach's St.Mathew Passion on Wednesday, January 5. Whatever your musical tastes I'd encourage everyone to go online, find a choir that looks right for you, and get involved. You won't regret it.
