THE Broadway shopping centre has announced its charity partnership will continue with Bradford Nightstop in 2022 - and has donated £2,500 from this year's fundraising.

The partnership is entering its third year and will see the team at the centre undertake fundraising events throughout the year to generate financial support for the charity.

Whilst the pandemic directly affected the fundraisers The Broadway was able to arrange and carry out in 2021, general manager Ian Ward embarked on a gruelling six-hour trek up Cadair Idris in September which raised more than £1,000.

He said: “We highly value our charitable connections at The Broadway and are delighted to donate funds to Bradford Nightstop whilst also pledging to continue fundraising for the vital charity in 2022.

“Establishing and maintaining strong links to the community are a priority for us and having the chance to give back to the people of the district is an absolute pleasure. Bradford Nightstop does fantastic work to support vulnerable young people across the city and we are happy to support their endeavors.”

Bradford Nightstop provides young homeless people with a safe place to stay until a longer term solution can be arranged.

Staying with trained and vetted volunteers, young people are offered a room of their own, transport, meals, basic essential supplies, washing facilities, and support to reach their next step.

Part of a national network in over 30 locations, Bradford Nightstop has provided over 10,000 bed nights since 1993, preventing vulnerable young people from sleeping on the streets.

Darren Starkey, chairperson at Bradford Nightstop, said: “Our partnership with The Broadway has been so valuable and we are incredibly grateful to find that it will continue into 2022.

“We’re delighted with the donation and every penny raised by The Broadway has helped us support vulnerable young people in the community. The pandemic disrupted our ability to carry out fundraisers so all donations have been  a vital lifeline in continuing our work.”
