A terrified shopkeeper had to be taken to hospital for shock after he had a gun pointed at him during an armed robbery in Bradford.

The 43-year-old proprietor of Burhani Hardware Store, in Toller Lane at the junction of Smith Lane, was left shocked after two masked men threatened him with what is suspected to be a gun after bursting into the premises at 1.45pm on Saturday.

They forced him to hand over £200 from the till before fleeing from the scene.

The robbers, who approached the shop from the direction of Hartman Place, are described as being Asian males, in their 20s, wearing dark clothing with black balaclavas.

Sergeant Neil Dalby, of Bradford North CID, said: "We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time leading up to the robbery, who saw two men acting suspiciously, to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bradford North CID on 0845 6060606.
