The Sheep Town Theatre Group returns to the stage with a play which was cancelled due to last year's foot and mouth outbreak.

The Globalisation of Veg Boy tells the story of two friends, Guy and Jean, who manage to run their vegetable business as the town around them starves, farms are abandoned and shops boarded up.

The actors of Sheep Town - the resident company at Skipton's Mart Theatre - were poised to perform the Dales-based drama in October.

However, they postponed the play so farmers could use the theatre for sales when the foot and mouth restrictions were lifted.

The play was written by Sheep Town founder and actor Thomas Aldersley while he toured with Nevada Shakespeare last summer. He will also be appearing in the play.

The Globalisation of Veg Boy is being performed at The Mart Theatre on Friday, February 1, at 1.15pm and 7.30pm and on Saturday, February 2, at 1.15pm and 7.30pm. Tickets are £6 with concessions and discounts for group bookings available. Under 16s will be admitted free to Saturday's 1.15pm show.

To book, call (01756) 791411 or visit www.themarttheatre. org.uk. Tickets will also be available on the door.
