A BRADFORD business which offers a healthier alternative to traditional energy drinks has launched a new flavour, continuing the “amazing journey” which began in its CEO’s kitchen.

Faraday Drinks, which aims to rival “mainstream” competitors, has released a raspberry and red cherry version of its popular energy drink, which contains zero sugar and only uses natural ingredients.

CEO Omar Bahadur is “really pleased” at how things have gone, having been named as a finalist for the YAYA Young Entrepreneur of The Year award earlier this year, as well as being shortlisted for the Bradford Means Business New Business of the Year award.

Omar, who is 26 and “Bradford born and bred” – having grown up in Heaton – has also seen his product endorsed by West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin.

“It's been amazing. We sold out the first version in 2020, and we now have a recipe with an improved flavour”, he said.

“A lot of energy drinks say they have zero sugar, but use artificial sweeteners. Our product is 100 per cent natural – we use real cherry juice, there’s nothing artificial inside it. We're different to mainstream energy drinks.

“We have both still and sparkling versions, which we decided on after gaining customer feedback, which is paramount to us.”

Omar, who graduated from the University of Bradford in mechanical engineering in 2018, first launched Faraday Drinks after becoming frustrated with how “unhealthy” most energy drinks were.

Since then, the business has gone from strength-to-strength.

“Last month, we had a stall at the Leisure Food and Beverage Expo in Birmingham. The feedback was immense”, Omar said.

“Another milestone for us was Rudding Park in Harrogate – the Independent Hotel of the Year – agreeing to stock our drinks.

“I make the recipe in my kitchen. Recently I went to Devon, to see my creation mixed in huge tankers. What I’d been doing in my kitchen was now happening here – which shows what a journey it’s been.

“This is also massive for Bradford, which is a fantastic place to start a business.

“I love the people here and we are full of talent, having a very young workforce.”

Omar remains excited for Faraday’s future: “There are so many things which set us apart from the rest – going into 2022, we look forward to pitching for large-scale investment.”

Faraday’s new flavour is available in four-packs or 12-packs, in both still or carbonated, and can be found on Amazon.
