NEW homeowners at McCarthy Stone’s retirement community in Bingley have been given a festive boost by primary school children.

Pupils in year four classes, the ‘Lions and Tigers’ at Crossflatts Primary School have been busy crafting and creating beautiful hand-made Christmas cards for residents at Whitelock Grange.

McCarthy Stone has organised the festive initiative to bring joy to homeowners who are enjoying their first Christmas celebrations.

The cards have been delivered to delighted residents who are able to keep them as a memorable and touching gift from their first ever Christmas time at home in Bingley.

Trudy Lund, house manager at Whitelock Grange, said: “I think I can speak for all the residents here when I say how touched and happy we were to receive the thoughtful and beautifully made Christmas cards from the pupils at Crossflatts Primary School.

"Their kindness really is appreciated and to know that the children spent so much time making them is something very special.

"They are a fabulous memory of our first Christmas here at Whitelock Grange.

“We’re having so much fun and are looking forward to raising a few more glasses of our favourite tipples yet.”

Laura Reynolds, assistant headteacher at Crossflatts Primary School, said: “Community is the beating heart of our school and in the current climate, this has been proven to be more important than ever.

"It is a vitally important part of our children's development that they learn about their local community and the people who live there.

"We are proud of our place in the Crossflatts Community and are delighted to have the opportunity to forge links with local residents and bring a smile to the faces of our neighbours.”
