A NEW IRISH bar is set to open in Bradford city centre this month.
The Dubliner will open its doors on Ivegate, Bradford on December 10, 2021.
The traditional bar will focus on playing Irish music and showing Irish sports, and being "as traditional as possible."
Irish-born, events manager, Ellen Boyle, said: "Since the only real Irish venue that there was in Bradford was the Melbourne Arms and when that closed, I think everybody dispersed, all the Irish dispersed, it was a focal point for the Irish in Bradford, and when it closed, it all just seemed to stop. There is a definite opportunity here to invite the Irish contingency back, and all the Irish around Bradford and the surrounding areas because we will be concentrating on lots of Irish music."
"We've seen the opportunity to open a good old Irish bar that's traditional as possible."
"I'm very Irish myself, my father still lives in Ireland I grew up listening to all the music from a very strong Irish culture. St Patricks day we do a lot and it's just so popular and its just a nice atmosphere and I think it just promotes a nice atmosphere. we'll be showing all the Irish sports, and eventually we will be introducing food and traditional Irish meals. Everything in it will be as traditional as possible."
On the launch night, a "a cracking Irish duo" will be playing. Ellen said: "They cover a lot of traditional stuff from The Dubliners and they play the stuff that people often associate with the Irish Music."
However, Ellen said it hasn't been easy finding Irish bands in Bradford.
She added: "The only issue is, with not having an Irish bar in town for such a long time, it's quite difficult to find the acts. To find Irish bands, with them not having a place to play in Bradford for such a long time has been hard, so if any Irish bands want to get in contact then feel free."
She said, that since the bar has announced it's opening "the interest has been off the scale." She added: "I was quite surprised, I knew it would work because I think the town lacks small nicer bars, and I think its a great idea to bring old traditional bars back to Bradford and back into town to get that good feeling back again."
