A jury is still considering its verdicts in the trial of a Bradford couple accused of wounding and cruelty to their sons.
The man, 47, denies torturing the boys by slicing their mouths with scalpel blades and putting safety pins through their lips.
The self-styled preacher pleads not guilty to hitting the boys and pressing one child's tongue with pincers.
Their mother, 38, denies cruelty to the children by turning a blind eye to the alleged abuse.
She also pleads not guilty to putting pepper in the younger boy's eyes and putting him in a cold bath.
The couple cannot be named for legal reasons.
The trial continues.
