A 31-year-old man was today cleared of raping a woman in her Bradford bedsit.
The jury at Bradford Crown Court took less than two hours to acquit Geoffrey Atack, of Crosley Wood Road, Bingley.
The woman, aged 21, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said she sobbed and struggled during the alleged rape in Manningham on May 22 last year.
But jurors decided she invented the story after hearing her accused of being attention seeking.
She admitted she used to drink to excess, leading to her being admitted to hospital.
Atack, who declined to give evidence in court, told police he would never have committed such a crime.
