A BRADFORD charity is "devastated beyond words" after hearing one of their volunteers was fatally stabbed in her own flat.

Zbigniew Soj, 23, has been charged with the murder of Bradford woman Bori Benko and the attempted murder of a 21-year-old - who suffered serious injuries at the time of the incident, on Sherborne Road on Sunday, and continues to receive treatment in hospital due to the nature of her injuries.

Bori, 24, originally from Hungary, came to the UK as a youth worker in 2016.

She was a member of the Global Cafe, a Christian charitable organisation that operates in partnership with churches across Bradford to support international and national students studying away from home.

The Global Cafe trustees paid this tribute. It read: "As the trustees of Global Cafe we were devastated and deeply saddened to hear the tragic news of the death of a dear member of our Global Cafe team, Bori (Borbala) Benko aged 24.

"Global Cafe is a Christian charitable organisation that operates in partnership with churches across Bradford to support international and national students studying away from home.

"As a volunteer for Global Cafe, Bori gave her time to creating a fun, welcoming environment for people to find friendship and build community whilst studying in Bradford.

"Bori was a cherished member of Global Cafe Bradford and we are devastated beyond words because of Bori’s sudden death.

"There is an ongoing police investigation into the events that led to Bori’s death and we, the Global Cafe trustees, and staff are giving our full cooperation to supporting the authorities in their investigation.

"Bori was a committed Christian who loved Jesus and she will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected by Bori’s death, but especially her parents and brother in Hungary.

"We pray for God’s comfort, healing, and justice.

"We have the assurance that Bori is at peace in the presence of her Lord and Saviour."
