A POPULAR Bradford boxer is giving back to the community by offering to fund a boxing camp for children.

Darren Tetley, of Holme Wood, will run the six-week camp - which includes fitness drills, pad work and nutrition homework - in Brighouse.

Darren is also going to mentor the kids so they can ring him with any problems and will visit on a regular basis.

Officers from Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team have been working on a mentoring project with a children’s home in the Shipley district.

PCSO Ben Verdeyen and PCSO Matt Veall (pictured with Tetley who gave a two hour talk) have recently arranged visits with local sporting stars to attend the children home and offer support and guidance.

PCSO Verdeyen said: "Darren has kindly offered to fund a boxing camp for the children which will include weekly boxing lessons, homework focusing on nutrition and diet, and will result in certificate at the end of the course.

"I was blown away by him. He talked to the kids for over two hours and you could hear a pin drop.

"He is funding the training school himself and offering visits all in his free time.

"He really is such a great guy and a fantastic role model for the kids."
