PLANS to further transform playing fields in East Bierley used by amateur sports teams look set to be approved.
East Bierley Community Sports Association wants to create more changing facilities, a new clubhouse, a hybrid 3/4 size pitch, a synthetic pitch, improved pitch drainage, as well as floodlights and improved parking.
The plans follow on from new changing rooms at the site which were completed in 2017 in an effort to secure the future of football and rugby at the site.
The new additions would see the existing single storey building retained, and would also see a stretch of access track to the north being upgraded.
A report to Kirklees Council's strategic planning meeting states: "It is considered that the principle of improving and expanding outdoor sports facilities at this site, and of intensifying the site’s existing use for outdoor sports, is policy compliant.
"The consequent enabling of (and increase in) sport participation and physical activity can be regarded as a significant public benefit which carries significant positive weight in the balance of planning considerations relevant to this application.
"Less positive weight, however, could be attached to these matters if it was established that the public benefit was not dependent upon this particular development proposal being implemented."
Almost all of the application site is within the greenbelt.
A decision is expected to be made the meeting which takes place tomorrow (November 18).
