PLANS to build a new industrial building on a site in Keighley have been approved by Bradford Council.

An application to demolish older buildings on the Byworth Boilers site, Station Works, and build a 324 square metre boiler maintenance building in their place, was submitted to Bradford Council in June.

The application was approved by planning officers this week.

The industrial site is based on Parkwood Street, next to the Airedale rail line.

Redevelopment of former Hattersley's site in Keighley town centre is approved

Planning officers said: "The site is located within an allocated Employment Zone and therefore the proposed industrial unit is considered to be compatible with neighbouring commercial land uses.

"The site is an established industrial site containing a variety of industrial buildings the number and scale of which would be reduced under the proposals."

They pointed out that the new building will have a smaller footprint than the buildings that will be demolished.
