A teenager had his expensive mountain bike stolen when he was mugged on his paper round.

The 15-year-old boy was delivering papers in Fleet Lane, Queensbury, when he was confronted.

As he pushed his Bianchi Mutt bike on the pavement, near to the junction with Foxhill Drive, he was shoved into a hedge and the thief rode off on the bike.

The youngster was uninjured but was shaken and devastated at the loss of his cycle, which had been a Christmas present and was worth several hundred pounds.

The thief was wearing a yellow, fluorescent jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms and dirty, beige work boots.

Police believe he may have stolen the bike because he was late for work.

Detective Inspector Gerry O'Shea, of Bradford North CID, said: "The teenager was hugely disappointed at losing his bike. It's a shame that somebody could do this to him."

The mugger was a white man, aged 20 to 25, 6ft tall, of medium build, with dark hair.

The incident happened at about 8.20am on Friday.
