A NEW bar in Bradford will open its doors this weekend.

A Spanish-themed cocktail bar called Loco Latina is now located inside the much-loved Sunbridgewells complex in the city centre.

It is one of seven bars inside the premises, and will officially opened on Saturday, November 6.

Ahead of the launch night, Andy Naylor, one of the partners of Loco Latina, said: “It’s going to be a Spanish and Latino bar, with early doors and then a cocktail bar in the evening with dancing. We’re trying to appeal to students, the way we’ve done it is multicoloured and really bright so we think they’ll like that.”

Andy added that there will be exotic Spanish-style cocktails, and tapas dishes on offer, and customers will be able to get a cocktail for five pounds.

He emphasised that it will act as an eatery, as well as a nighttime venue.

This is Andy’s second venture inside the well-known retail complex.

He added: “We own the pizzeria which is directly opposite, We’ve had for that three months and we saw the bar opposite was vacant so we thought when the pizzeria is full we can send people over to the bar and they don’t have to wait inside the restaurant.”

Andy opened a pizzeria called La Caverna Pizzeria in the venue in October which has been a huge success.

The owners plan for the bar to be open from Thursday through to Sunday each week to “start off with”, and will be open until 2 am.

Andy added: “We’re hoping to do different things and little events on a regular basis, we’re still thinking about ideas on what to do as it goes along, we just wanted to get it open as soon as possible.”

Loca Latina will open its doors to the public for the first time on Saturday at 7pm.

Graham Hall, developer of Sunbridgewells said: “Loca Latina officially opened on Saturday after a soft launch on Friday, and we’re going to take it from there. There are seven bars and it’s all under one roof which is the great thing about Sunbridgewells because if it’s raining or snowing you don’t need to get a taxi anywhere.

“Best of luck to them all, lets work together and get it going in there.”

Sunbridgewells is Bradford’s underground retail complex in the heart of the historic trading quarter.

It houses a range of bars and restaurants in Victorian-style units connected by an underground tunnel.

There is also a rear courtyard area that has been created leading up to Upper Miller Gate, Bradford, and an underground retail area for independent shops.
