A campaign to boycott nightclubs amid fears of spiked drinks and injections is set to go nationwide.

The organisers of the Night In campaign are urging revellers to show their concerns by staying away from night clubs for one night.

The first boycott took place in Exeter on Tuesday with more towns and cities to follow this week.

The National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) said there were 198 drink spiking incidents across the UK over the past two months, as well as 24 reports of some form of injection.

And it comes as detectives are investigating six reports of women being injected while on nights out in Brighton during the past week.

Brighton’s police chief said the reports are being taken “incredibly seriously” and called for any possible victims of spiking to let police or bar staff know as soon as possible.

Sussex Police detectives say two women reported feeling unwell after going out in the seaside city on October 19 Four more women reported being injected while out in the city centre over the following days, the force said.
