A CAFE on a Leeds Road site could jeopardise other developments in the area - planning officers have decided.
Earlier this year a retrospective planning application to allow a cafe shack, Dudh Pathi, to remain on a car park area at 935 Leeds Road was submitted to Bradford Council.
The timber clad shipping container has been on the site for at least a year.
But the application, which describes the cafe as "exciting and stimulating for the local and wider community" has now been refused by planning officers.
They said the building had a "poor quality" design, and added "whilst the wider site does include poor quality buildings, these are permanent structures and these do not set a precedent for further poor quality designed temporary structures that will not add to the overall quality of the area."

They pointed out that in recent months an application for an "express cafe" on the same site has been approved, as has another for three workshop units.
Officers added: "These are permanent well designed structures with quality materials proposed that will improve the area and create a more visually attractive area in the long term, whilst creating a strong sense of place.
"The retained container would prevent the undertaking of these permissions."
They said the application did not include a delivery or service plan to show that the business could operate without causing highways issues.
Finally they pointed out that the cafe, which has no seating area and so would operate as a take away, would be within 400 metres of Laisterdyke Leadership Academy, and go against planning policies that prevent new take aways from opening within 400 metres of a school.
