DISNEY’S The Lion King is returning to Bradford's Alhambra theatre, with the full cast announced.
Joining the cast of the landmark musical is Stephenson Ardern-Sodje as Simba. After a career behind the scenes in Coronation Street’s story room and with Idris Elba’s production company, Green Door Pictures, Stephenson made his stage debut in the first West End cast of Hamilton.
The Lion King also stars Nokwanda Khuzwayo as Nala, having previously played the role in Germany and Brazil. The show roars into life with spectacular masks, puppets, and costumes, telling the story of Simba’s epic adventures, as he struggles with the responsibilities of adulthood and becoming king.
Julie Taymor’s internationally celebrated stage adaptation of The Lion King opened on Broadway in 1997 and there have been 25 productions worldwide since. The design draws on cultural influences to recreate the colours and expanses of the African Savanna.
* The Lion King is at the Alhambra from March 24 to May 28. It is rescheduled from 2020. For tickets go to bradford-theatres.co.uk or call (01274) 432000.
