A review of town halls could see £500,000 spent on Cleckheaton's historic building in an effort to encourage more people to use it.
Kirklees Council has drawn up a plan following consultation with local councillors and residents - and has looked at town halls in Dewsbury and Batley too.
If agreed, £56,000 would be spent on an in-depth survey on all three buildings into the stonework, roof, windows and floors.
The authority says it needs to spend more on marketing its town halls. Reducing the charges to people hiring them would be one way of bringing in more people.
The report also suggests that a cushion of £45,000 a year would be needed to cover the price reduction, but if usage increased some of this money could be handed back or re-invested.
Cleckheatontown hall is already "well-used", the report says, but would benefit from being used as a Council information centre.
The details will be discussed at the next Spen Valley Area Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 12.
