Detectives want to speak to a witness who stopped at the scene of an attack which left a man fighting for his life.

The driver of a car may have vital information about what officers believe was a street robbery in Keighley in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A 31-year-old man received serious head injuries and is critically ill in hospital following the assault.

Detective Superintendent Tim Forber, who is leading the investigation, said it was a very serious incident.

Officers were appealing for witnesses to the alleged attack, which happened at 1.45am near the bottom of Oakworth Road.

"In particular, we would like to speak to a man driving a dark blue hatchback who stopped at the scene," he said.

Detectives also need to speak to anyone else who was in the area of Oakworth Road round about the time of the incident.

An area at the bottom of Oakworth Road was closed off to traffic as officers carried out their hunt for clues.

A 31-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman have ben arrested on suspicion of assault and robbery.
