Tyersal turned the form book upside down to inflict Brighouse Town's first Premier Division defeat on the road.

The Arkwright Street side eased their relegation fears with a 2-1 win over the title chasers which put them eight points clear of second from bottom spot.

Antony Busfield and And-rew Bailey gave them a comfortable 2-0 interval advantage and though Town had the better of the second half, they were only once able to penetrate the home defence through Kieran Lenihan.

Campion failed to shackle Meltham Athletic's free-scoring Tom Mathews on their first ever visit to the Huddersfield side.

Mathews netted four times to move Athletic into pole position at the top with a 5-1 victory. Nathan Addy added the fifth, while former City midfielder Des Hamilton provided the only consolation for Campion, who slipped down to sixth place.

Wibsey's game at Ardsley Celtic was called off but the two sides beneath them in the relegation places, Keighley Shamrocks and Ovenden West Riding both went down.

Dynamoes were on their way to a rare victory when Chris Gibbon scored twice in the first half against Morley Town. But Mick Carroll and Wayne Walsh hit back with goals in the second half for a share of the spoils.

Salts and Bronte Wanderers shared eight goals in the Reserve Division. Ryan Morris (2), Luke Whitaker and Darren Mitchell scored for Salts in the second half after Bronte had led 3-0 at the interval. Alex Love (2), Wayne Campbell and Andy Conway netted for Bronte.

Campion Reserves lost 5-4 on penalties at home to Stanley United in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy after the game had finished 1-1 following extra time.
