Everyone has a date that's close to their heart and Bradford's Marie Curie Hospice wants people across the district to share theirs.

The charity needs help to fill all 366 days on their new fund raising calendar in its foyer at Maudsley Street.

Community fund-raising manger Brenda Doyle says getting involved in the campaign is a piece of cake.

To mark the start of the Sponsor Your Special Day idea, people can give a donation of £60 to get a daffodil sticker stuck on the calendar - there is space for a message too.

"It could be a birthday, a wedding anniversary, a celebration date or may be a day a loved one passed away," said Brenda. "We are hoping people will help us fill all the gaps on this calendar - there's lots to go at.

"Individuals, families anyone can do it.

"We're also hoping to hear from businesses and organisations who have a special date to mark and might like to give us £60 or may be a bit more - £600 would be nice!"

The charity's own special day marking it's 60 years helping people with cancer will be on July 12.

"We've had a lovely cake made to help us get the campaign under way - no doubt it'll be the first of many."

The Bradford hospice is one of ten across the country run by Marie Curie Cancer Care.
