ACCORDING to findings by the UK company alldayPA, Bradford takes the lead as the most affordable city for a single person to relocate to.
These findings coincide with the news that customer service jobs continue to rise, especially in the UK’s northern regions, and for people wanting to change or build their career in this industry, West Yorkshire has proved a particularly prominent area.
For those with salaries of over £25,000 per year, Bradford’s cheaper living expenses can lead to savings of over £600 a month.
In second place is Nottingham (saving £546), followed by Cardiff (saving £498), Plymouth (saving £450) and Newcastle, which allows single people renting in the city to save up to £449 a month.
These living costs go deeper than just the typical domestic bill and council tax payments and include lifestyle expenses such as taxi rides, gym memberships, phone contracts, as well as other lifestyle costs.
However, for those wondering how customer service roles fare in seaside destinations, like Brighton, or large cities, like London, alldayPA has shown that people can still live affordably, but are less likely to be able to save much whilst living alone.
For example, a couple splitting the costs of a one-bedroom flat can save, on average, £442-£407 a month - whereas a single person, living alone, would struggle.
Head of Customer Services at alldayPA, Gareth Jeffery, comments on how the North is becoming the UK’s business powerhouse: “Looking at these data findings, we’ve seen that Bradford is the most affordable place to live in the UK for people working in customer service roles.
“However, after reviewing the data of all of the locations, we can see that the North is overtaking London and is becoming the UK’s business powerhouse as it offers people a more sustainable lifestyle and extra cash to be able to save money and live more comfortably.”
Founder of alldayPA, Reuben Singh, shares how his customer service businesses will allow people to find a job in one of these affordable locations: “One of my big focuses as the CEO of alldayPA is to make sure we are able to provide a quality customer service solution that spans across the UK.
“In expanding across the UK, we're recruiting from a diverse range of backgrounds, providing people with careers close to home with flexibility and a better work-life balance.
“We plan to have additional contact centres set up in several more cities, including West Yorkshire, meaning people will be able to earn a living wage and have a real opportunity to develop their customer service careers."
