The fuel crisis has hit the private hire cab industry hard in Bradford today, with many not able to get their full fleet of vehicles out on the roads.
One private hire boss described the scenes at the city's petrol stations as "very disturbing and upsetting."
Girlington All Over Private Hire LTD has seen a massive reduction in the number of cabs it has been able to operate, as has Euro Cars Bradford.
Manager Mohammed Atif said: "As the largest private hire firm in Bradford, usually we would have 160 drivers working.
"Today, due to the fuel crisis we only had 90 working. Unfortunately, we have had to give a lot more of waiting time then usual. The long queues in petrol stations all across Bradford are very disturbing and upsetting.
"We can only apologise to our regulars and hope and pray that this crisis is dealt with as soon as possible."
Rizwan Mahmood at Euro Cars Bradford said: “Our drivers have been affected really bad. Normally we have about 60 cars working and now we only have about 45 working. They can’t get diesel and they can’t get petrol. Going forwards we won’t be able to provide the service if it carries on.”
