POLICE have stepped up patrols and are carrying out further enquiries in the Wibsey area of Bradford following two incidents of firearms dicharge and disorder on Tuesday evening.
As detectives carry out further enquiries, there has been a police presence in Reevy Crescent, Wibsey, today.
Police have now issued a further appeal for information about two Tuesday incidents which are believed to be connected.
Enquiries have now established that there were firearm discharges in each of these incidents at Smith Avenue and Holroyd Hill at around 6.11pm and 6.23pm respectively on Tuesday. The first of these is believed to have involved a blank firing weapon.
No injuries or damage was reported.
Four males arrested in connection with these incidents have now been released on bail and enquiries are continuing.
Detective Chief Inspector Fiona Gaffney, of the Firearms Prevent and Investigation Team, is now leading the investigation.
The Firearms Prevent and Investigation Team is part of West Yorkshire Police’s Programme Precision response to tackling serious and organised crime.
DCI Gaffney said: “We are continuing to investigate these incidents in Wibsey and are appealing for anyone who may have information about either or both of them to come forward.
“The discharge of a firearm in public is a serious matter and these incidents are the subject of a thorough investigation to identify those involved.
“Patrols have been increased in the area to offer reassurance to residents and I would urge anyone with information about both or either of these incidents to come forward and speak with my team or anonymously to Crimestoppers so we can take appropriate action.”
Anyone with information which may assist this investigation is asked to contact the team on 101, or via the West Yorkshire Police website, quoting log 1332 of 21 September.
Information can also be reported anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online.
