A MOTORWAY police officer has explained why a horse was seen trotting down the M62.
A stretch of the motorway leading up to Hartshead Moor Services, near Bradford, had to be closed off yesterday to allow the animal to get to safety.
The reason why this was the case is because it's box had broken down in the middle of a lane.
This meant police had to shut down a couple of lanes to get their recovery operation underway and let the horse stroll to the services.
PC Martin Willis, known on social media as ‘Motorway Martin’, said: "Watching a horse being led to Hartshead Moor services down a closed motorway was a bit surreal.
"However, this speeded up the recovery operation of the stricken horse box.
"The horse was very well behaved and was probably relieved to have a change of scenery."
