A MAN was arrested yesterday after police discovered a cannabis farm at Tong and seized plants worth up to £250,000.
Officers from Bradford South Neighbourhood Policing Team worked with staff from British Gas yesterday to execute a warrant at an address on Westgate Hill Street, Tong, Bradford.
Once inside, a large cannabis cultivation numbering in the region of 250 plants were located and a male was arrested at the scene.
Further enquiries by British Gas staff and Northern Power Grid emergency staff found the electricity had been bypassed underneath the driveway and was running in to the house directly from mains supply.
A spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police said: "This would mean, should a fault emerge in electrical equipment then no protection would be offered to anyone in the address or the nearby neighbours and could result in catastrophic consequences."
The arrested male was interviewed and charged and was remanded to appear before Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court this morning.
Cannabis and equipment was seized from the address and Bradford South NPT give thanks to British Gas for allowing officers to attack high level organised crime activity.
The police spokesperson added: "The loss of £200k to £250k of Class B drugs will see a large financial blow in the pockets of those higher up the chain and work is ongoing to identify those involved."
