A PETITION calling for plans to build a multi million pound health hub in the centre of Keighley to be scrapped will be discussed by Bradford Council bosses in November.
The Council and other public bodies, plan to build a centre offering GP services, physiotherapy, district nursing, midwifery, diabetes support, stroke rehabilitation classes, occupational therapy, a pharmacy, and other services on the former Keighley College site on North Street.
It is expected the hub would cost around £3 million.
The College was demolished several years ago, and the now empty site of the building temporarily landscaped before work on the hub begins.
Calls for £3m health hub plans for Keighley town centre site to be scrapped
However, over 2,000 people have signed a petition calling for these plans to be dropped, and the site instead retained as an urban green space on one of the main routes through the town.
Petitioners made their case at a full Council meeting in July, and Councillors voted that it should go before the decision making Executive in the future.
At a meeting of the Executive on Tuesday members were told that the petition will be discussed at the November 2 Executive meeting.
