A MEMORIAL bench has been damaged in Drub Park, in Cleckheaton over the weekend.
The issue was raised after a member of a Facebook group posted a picture of the vandalised bench with the comment ‘no need at all’.
This was described as the latest bout of vandalism in the park.
Councillor John Lawson said: “One of the benches has been damaged beyond repair.
“I have reported this to our Anti-social behaviour officers, and we are going to get a patrol of our inclusion officers.
“We have asked for a police patrol if they can manage to pick up on it.”
The bench will be replaced but the councillor was unable to say when and how that would happen.
The cost of the bench could be covered by ward funds.
