POLICE have made multiple arrests for burglary and theft after a spike in crime in the Thornton area of Bradford.
On Wednesday, residents of Thornton village reported to Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing Team concerns about a spike in crime in the area.
Acting upon information received from the public and police investigation, officers were able to identify and subsequently arrest four people for a number of offences in the village.
One suspect was arrested and charged with four residential burglaries and four thefts from vehicles. He has been remanded into police custody to appear at court.
One female was arrested charged with a theft from shop/ technical burglary and bailed to appear at court.
Two other males remain under police investigation.
The police have said that further arrests are planned in the coming week.
Sergeant Imeson, of Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing team, said: "Bradford West Neighbourhood Policing team and our colleagues within the wider policing service are committed to keeping the community safe and feeling safe.
"West Yorkshire Police undertake a number of proactive, overt and covert operations through out the Bradford West area, and residents can be assured that any issues arising in their area will be robustly challenged in a timely manner.
"It is clear that the community are not always kept aware of good work ongoing in the area and this is something that we hope to address with a number of contact points, community meetings and through direct dialogue with your local NPT officers."
