THESE five men have all been called before the courts in Bradford charged with offences while driving supercars in recent months.
They all allegedly committed motoring offences while behind the wheel of flashy, high powered cars, with three of the men sentenced after admitting their guilt or finding the case against them proven.
The other two will face a further trial to determine the outcome of their cases.
First in at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court was David Leeming, of Clara Drive, Calverley, who was in court on June 2.
The 41-year-old has been charged with driving a Lamborghini 98DL without due care and attention along Stanningley Road on November 12, 2020.
Following the hearing earlier this summer, Leeming’s case was sent for a full hearing, with Leeming next required in court on December 11 in Leeds.
Next up was Thomas Medley, 31, of Tingley Mill, Morley, who was due to appear in court on June 8.
Medley didn’t turn up to court, where it was found proven that on February 23 that in Bradford he failed to provide details for the identity of the driver of a Porsche Macan, who was alleged to have committed a criminal offence.
He received six points on his licence and was fined £660, along with a victim surcharge of £66 and costs of £90, for a total amount of £816.
Next in on July 9 was 28-year-old Arsam Ali, of Chapel Lane, Allerton, who pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and without insurance.
Ali was caught driving a Lamborghini Huracan Evo in Canal Street, Leeds, on July 8.
He was jailed for two weeks for the offence and 18 weeks in total, as he was also before the court for two assaults and a mugging, all of which he admitted, and also ordered to pay £250 compensation to his victims and a £128 victim surcharge.
In tagging on another two weeks for the driving offence, magistrates said the offence was “so serious because the number and nature of the offences shows that the defendant is operating as a professional criminal.”
Next up on July 22, was James Butler, 35, from Left Bank, Manchester, charged with speeding on the M62 between Chain Bar and Gildersome on January 12.
It’s alleged Butler was driving a Porsche at 69mph, while a 60mph limit was in force on this stretch of the motorway. It’s also alleged he failed to provide information relating to the identity of a driver when required to by police in Bradford.
The case has been referred to a full hearing on February 18, 2022, in Bradford, that Butler is required to attend.
Lastly in court was Irfan Khan, of Thornton Road, Thornton, who appeared on August 3.
The 25-year-old was allegedly caught doing 37mph in a 30mph zone in Great Horton Road while driving a Porsche Cayenne on January 26. It was also found proven he failed to provide information about the driver’s identity when required by police.
He is required before court on October 15 for the court to consider whether he should get a driving ban or not.
