ELEVEN people have been fined more than £8,800 for attending gatherings in Bradford during the third Covid-19 lockdown earlier this year.
They all appeared at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates Court on August 24, charged with participating in illegal gatherings of two or more people while the country was in lockdown at the beginning of this year.
Four of the people were all fined for attending a gathering at a property in Southfield Lane, Great Horton, on January 31, while three others were at a gathering at a house in Lingwood Avenue, Girlington, on the same date.
Josef Kis, 51, of Roxby Street, Holme Top, Janos Horvath, 38, of Killinghall Road, Barkerend, Brigitta Kiss, 28, of Rigton Street, Little Horton, and Marianne Kis, 28, of Christopher Street, Little Horton, were all fined £811 each over the gathering.
None of the defendants turned up for the hearing, and it was found proven for each that they had participated in the gathering on January 31 in Southfield Lane, in breach of Coronavirus restrictions.
They all were ordered to pay a £660 fine with £85 costs and a £66 victim surcharge by September 14.
The three people who were at the Lingwood Avenue gathering were Vanda Kaliasova, 49, who lives at the address of the gathering, Rastislav Gujda, 53, of Girlington Road, Girlington, and Kamila Gujdova, 49, of Kensington Street, Girlington, and none of them were in court.
Kaliasova was fined £1,100 for her role in organising the event, plus costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £110, for a total fine of £1,295.
Gujda and Gujdova were each handed fines of £660, plus costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £66 for total fines of £811.
Also fined in court last month were four others who attended separate illegal gatherings.
Willard Danda, 29, of Holme Wood Road in Holme Wood, was found to have attended a gathering at a property in Chelsea Street, Keighley, on January 31, in breach of Covid rules. He didn’t attend court and was fined £811.
Jacob Crawford, 31, of Rillington Mead, Eccleshill, was also at a gathering on January 31, this one at a property in Wibsey Park Avenue, in breach of Covid rules. He didn’t attend his hearing either and was also fined £811.
Hassan Arif, 22, of Thorn Lane, Heaton, was at a gathering held on February 7 at a flat in The Reading Rooms building in Little Germany, in breach of restrictions. Arif wasn’t in court and has been fined £811.
Also due in court was Joanne Lee, 52, of Old Road, Farsley. While not present, she did plead guilty to attending gathering on February 2 at a property in Rossfield View, Bramley, and was handed a fine of £239 for breaching Coronavirus regulations.
