People are being asked to exit the motorway at junction 25 and there are delays back to junction 24 (Ainley Top).
National Highways said the incident is expected to be cleared between 4pm and 4.15pm.
Normal traffic conditions are expected between 4.45pm and 5pm.
There are currently delays of 30 minutes against expected traffic, said National Highways.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said they were aware of the incident and that West Yorkshire Police had confirmed they would convey any patients to hospital.
Traffic officers have now managed to clear the vehicles from the carriageway.
A lane three and four closure is in place due to a large oil spillage from one of the vehicles involved.
