SIR - I could hardly believe my eyes when reading Mr Siddique's letter (T&A letters, August 9), blaming Bradford Council for litter in Manningham.
The reason Baildon is clean is that most of us don't drop litter. When people from elsewhere drop it, local unpaid volunteers regularly go around picking it up.
All we get from Bradford Council are fortnightly bin collections.
The Green Lane/Otley Road junction is one of the busiest and most dangerous, with two bus routes. Drivers avoiding it cause problems elsewhere. Anywhere else it would have had traffic lights at least 20 years ago. But because it is in Baildon we cannot have them. Shipley can have as many as it wants - or doesn't - as the last set in Briggate proves!
