YOU could name a brand new street, if your submission is selected.
Kirklees Council has asked for people to give suggestions for the name of a fresh road that will serve a new residential development in the Birstall area.
The houses are being built off Fieldhead Lane, on empty land next to the Fieldhead Garage.
There are certain guidelines and rules for making a submission for the street name.
They should not duplicate, or closely resemble, existing street names in the area.
New roads are also generally not named after people who are still alive, or have lived in the recent past.
Preference is often given to names with local connotations.
If you want to get involved, you can make a submission via email, post or on the phone.
For email, the address is: street.naming@kirklees.gov.uk
For post, the address to send your submission to is: Building Control, Flint Street Depot, Flint Street Fartown Huddersfield HD1 6LG
For over the phone, the number you need is: 01484 221550
The deadline for suggestions is August 18.
Receipt of suggestions is not normally acknowledged.
