SHIPLEY'S former Job Centre will be turned into eight flats after an application to refurbish the building was approved.
Dulay Developments has been granted permission to convert the Wainman Street building into the town centre into a mix of four one-bed and four two-bed flats.
Announcing the plans earlier this Summer, the company said: ""The proposal is of great benefit to the building, and will bring it back into use."
Shipley Town Council had backed the change of use, and on Friday Bradford Council planning officers approved the application.
Green Belt housing plans are refused
They said: "There is a shortage throughout the District of land for new housing and this change of use would provide towards that need.
"The location is close to the town centre and public transport interchanges including Shipley rail station.
"The building is vacant and this proposal for its reuse is acceptable."
In 2017 the Government announced that it planned to shut the town's Jobcentre Plus as part of its austerity measures.
