THE number of hospital patients with Covid-19 in the Bradford district has seen an overall rise, latest figures show.
The data, released yesterday by the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) show Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has 53 patients with Covid-19, a fall from 59 last week, while Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has 23, which is a rise from 15 last week.
At the end of May, there were 42 Covid-19 patients across the six hospital trusts which work together as WYAAT, while latest figures show that has soared to 299. Twenty-six of those patients are currently in intensive care units, which is a fall from 32 last week.
WYAAT said: "This additional demand means we are prioritising those in the most urgent medical need and the time you may wait at an emergency department for more minor treatment could be impacted and you may have to wait longer than anticipated.
"Please also remember that while restrictions have been recently lifted there has been no change to the requirement to wear face masks and observe social distancing in hospitals and other clinical settings.
"This is to help protect vulnerable patients and ensure our staff can continue to work in order to meet the significant demand facing the NHS."
