POLICE have made multiple arrests as enquiries continue into the discovery of a firearm and a recent disorder on a Huddersfield estate.

Officers executed a search warrant at a property in the town this morning and arrested a man on suspicion of firearms offences as part of enquiries into an incident on the Walpole estate on Sunday.

Officers visited Sullivan Close, off Walpole Road at about 5.22pm on August 1 after a Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen Golf reported as stolen were sighted.

Both vehicles were seized by attending officers who also recovered a firearm from the Corsa.

A disorder incident occurred before the cars were seized in which items were thrown at the initial two attending officers.  Those involved dispersed as more police attended to secure the scene.

Two males have now been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with that incident.  One of the two was further arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and money laundering.

All remain in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Simon Reddington of Kirklees CID said: “Detectives are continuing to investigate following the recovery of a firearm from Sullivan Close and a linked disorder incident and have made arrests in connection with the offences.
