BRADFORD based Morrisons has been fined £500 for failing to provide police with the identity of a driver who was alleged to have committed an offence.
The supermarket chain, which is based in Hilmore House, off Gain Lane in Bradford, initially pleaded not guilty to not complying with a police request on November 12, last year.
That was at Cardiff Magistrates' Court on June 11 this year and the case was adjourned to July 28 for trial.
Morrisons then changed its plea to guilty at that trial.
It related to a request made by the Central Ticket Office, in Treforest, on behalf of the Chief Officer of Police for South Wales.
The request was for information from Morrisons relating to the identification of the driver of a white Volkswagen Crafter van, who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.
Morrisons was ordered by the court to pay £635 in total.
This includes a £500 fine, a £50 surcharge to fund victim services and costs of £85.
The balance must be paid by August 25.
Morrisons guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.
