POLICE cordoned off a road after a person suffered burns to the face in a fire at a Chinese takeaway in Stanningley this afternoon.
One fire engine from Stanningley Fire Station and two from Bradford were called at around 1.30pm to the Hai Loi Tang Chinese Takeaway on Bradford Road, Stanningley.
"A pan of oil caught fire," said David Vickers, crew commander of Stanningley Fire Station. "Everybody's ok as they got of the restaurant quickly."
All people were accounted for prior to arrival of the fire service.
One person suffered burns to face and received extra care from the ambulance service.
The fire was in the kitchen on the ground floor of the two-storey building.
Crews used two hose reel jets, four breathing apparatus and positive pressure ventiliation to extinguish the fire.
"It was on the range and we caught it quickly," crew commander Vickers. "The fire was confined to the corner of the kitchen and didn't spread to any other rooms.
"We did have to take the ventilation system apart to make sure the fire hadn't spread."
The police cordoned off the road, and it was closed for about 90 minutes, but it has since reopened.
