THE Telegraph & Argus has opened this online book of condolence following the sad death of a Keighley man in a tragic river incident.
Bradford City fan Ben Marklew, 19, of Glusburn, died after getting into difficulty in the River Wharfe at Grassington.
The scene of the death was near Linton Falls where Bradford teenager Mohammed Bilal Zeb drowned on July 31 last year after getting into difficulties while swimming in the river.
Police were called by the ambulance service at about 7.45pm yesterday evening, July 22, to a report of a man in difficulty in the river.
Fire crews from Skipton and Grassington were called at around 7.18pm to Station Road, Grassington, to reports of a person missing in the river after jumping in.
Fire crews pulled the male from the water near Linton Falls, just a short distance downsteam, and handed them over to ambulance crews.
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "Yorkshire Ambulance Service received an emergency call at 7.09pm yesterday (Thursday, July 22) to reports of a male in difficulty in the River Wharfe at Grassington.
"An ambulance, clinical supervisor, air ambulance and Mountain Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
"Despite the tireless efforts of all those responding to the incident, the man sadly died."
Enquiries are ongoing and no further details have been released.

You were always with us, and we know you always will be with us somewhere, somehow on the stand. Keep smiling up there and we'll always do you proud.

Absolutely devastated by the news tonight. Can only imagine what some of the lads are going through. So tragic. We've lost a seriously good lad and it hits home how fragile life can be. Look after each other and make every day count. 😔
