PICTURES from the Bradford Covid Response Hub show the scene at a new walk-in vaccination centre which celebrated its official opening today.
The new clinic is at The Broadway shopping centre, and is located at its Market Street entrance, near H&M.
Pictures show the clinic decorated with balloons and a ribbon being cut, as staff pose for the camera.
The centre is offering first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to people who are aged 18 and above, and is open until 5pm today, and from 11am to 4pm tomorrow.
People are still being encourgaed to 'grab a jab' as the fight against Covid-19 continues, with local figures and organisations stressing the importance of getting vaccinated.
Earlier this week, Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “I would encourage everyone who can to go and get their vaccine, and by having more walk-in clinics in key locations, we want to make it as convenient for people as possible.”
Nancy O’Neill, NHS co-lead for the vaccination programme across Bradford District and Craven, added: “We’re working together with a range of partners to make it as easy possible for people to get their vaccine.
"We are really pleased to be working with The Broadway, Bradford so that we can offer people visiting the centre a convenient option to get the Covid vaccine, without the need for an appointment.
"This is part of our wider vaccination programme, with walk-in clinics available across Bradford District and Craven.
"We will also continue to offer bespoke sessions at community venues and our vaccine bus is still calling at locations across our place.
“It’s really important that people have both doses of their vaccine for the best and longer-lasting protection.
"Second doses have been brought forward to eight weeks for people over the age of 40, following evidence showing how important the second jab is in protecting people against the Delta variant that is now spreading across the country.”
Ian Ward, General Manager at The Broadway, also said: “The Broadway is committed to helping and providing for the community in all the ways it possibly can.
"We worked with city-wide partners to facilitate The Broadway Food Hub back when the pandemic first hit, and we’re pleased to play our role to help with the vaccination roll-out in the city.
“We continue to follow government guidelines and all Covid-secure measures that we have been operating under since early 2020 will continue to keep both shoppers and staff safe.”
