SUPPORTING Charities FC prepare for a clash of the titans this weekend, as they come up against their neighbours Bradford City Veterans.
The Bradford based club, who are predominantly made up of ex professional footballers and TV stars, will travel to Barnoldswick this Sunday to take on the City Veterans.
They have faced their opposition on three occasions in the past and have beat them twice in those meetings.
As many will know, the club’s main goal is to be a Celebrity Charity Football Club, where they compete all over the UK, raising funds for many Organisations and Charities close to their heart.
So far, they have raised and donated over £55,000, and this weekend, the funds raised through the event will be donated to the Bradford Burns Unit.
And discussing this weekend’s event, Supporting Charities manager, Chris Moralee, said: “We are all really excited for the game this weekend.
“Obviously, we are based in Bradford, and we are playing against the Bradford City Veterans, a side full of City legends, so it is going to be a good one.
“The fixture is extra special, as we are glad be to supporting the Bradford Burns Unit. It’s a massive charity that we’ve become close to, and we will be supporting again this weekend.”
Moralee added: “First and foremost it’s always about the charity in question, and obviously we try and raise as much as we can, and awareness.
“But fundamentally, we don’t play to get beat and we’ve played them on three occasions now, beat them twice and we will be looking to do so again.
“Hopefully, we get quite a few spectators down there, and we raise a good amount of money for the Burns Unit.
“It always depends on the weather though, and with the covid situation, it depends on how comfortable people feel about coming down. It could be anything from 200 to 800 spectators.”
On June 27, unfortunately Supporting Charities FC player, Dylan Graves was rushed to hospital following a knock he received in a fixture.
After X-rays and scans, it unfortunately revealed Graves had suffered internal bleeding from a tear to his kidney.
And Graves is currently still recovering. Moralee said: “Dylan’s recovery is going okay. He’s still undergoing scans and appointments at the minute, within the hospital.
“So overall his recovery is going really well."
The game this Sunday against Bradford City Veterans will take place in Barnoldswick, at the Silentnight Stadium,
Kick off will be at 2:00 PM, however the gates open at 1:00 PM, and pricing will be £5 for adults and Under 16's can attend for free.
