AN elderly woman has been rushed to hospital after emergency services scrambled to a house fire in Keelham this afternoon.
Police, fire crews and an ambulance were rushed to the scene at 4.30pm in Brighouse Road, between Wells Head and Thornton Road, to reports of a house fire.
An elderly woman had been rescued from the property by two members of the public.
She was then taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary suffering from burns to her legs and smoke inhalation.
The fire was located in the living room and the house was 20 per cent involved in the fire. Crews used breathing apparatus and one hose reel to fight the fire, and a high powered fan to clear smoke.
They added that the house had smoke alarms which had gone off, highlighting the importance of having working smoke alarms fitted.
The incident was attended by firefighters from Illingworth, Fairweather Green and Bingley.
Police had blocked off the road in Keelham earlier this afternoon, and a spokesperson said: "Police were called to assist the fire service at an address in Keelham, Denholme, on Wednesday following reports of a house fire and concerns for a person’s safety.
"The report was received at 4:35pm. Road closures were enforced while the fire service dealt with the blaze.
"There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire."
