A FURTHER three Coronavirus deaths have been recorded in hospitals in the Bradford district over the past seven days.
All three fatalities were recorded at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, with one occurring on July 6 and two happening on July 11.
It means there have now been 913 Covid-19 deaths in the district’s hospitals - 647 at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, 264 at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, and two at Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Nationally, a further 25 deaths were recorded today, taking the total number of hospital deaths in England to 87,703 since the pandemic began.
A huge surge in case numbers in recent weeks, fuelled by the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant, has seen hospital admissions rise - they have more than doubled in Bradford over the past month - and also led to a rise in deaths.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said last week that the lifting of all Covid-19 restrictions from Monday, July 19, will sadly lead to an increase in the number of infections, people getting seriously ill, and people dying from the virus.
He has urged everyone to get vaccinated with two doses to give themselves the best protection possible against Covid-19.
Elsewhere in West Yorkshire, there have now been 1,049 deaths at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust, 950 at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, and 508 at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.
