PLANS to turn a former wellness clinic in Menston into a hairdressers have been granted by Bradford Council.
The application will see the end terrace property in Cleasby Road in the centre of the village turned into a salon, with a retractable external canopy fitted at the front of the salon.
In approving the plans, Bradford Council said the area has been “underused and lacked vitality” in the past, and that its use as a hairdressers would be “entirely appropriate”.
Planning officers added: “The canopy would complement the traditional detailing of the frontage.
It is an appropriate and beneficial alteration that will help smarten up the appearance of the premises and help bring some much needed vitality to this parade of shops.”
The plans also received the backing of Menston Parish Council, however the applicant Kelly Russell was told that if she wants to put up advertising or signs at the salon, further consent from the council will be required.
