MORE details of the planned Park and Ride scheme in South Bradford are likely to be revealed before the end of the year - a committee has been told.
The £20m scheme is one of several being funded by the Transforming Cities Fund - a pot of case that came with the West Yorkshire Devolution Deal.
It would involve people coming into Bradford via the M606 parking at a site off Staithgate Lane and travelling into the centre by a new shuttle bus service down the centre of Manchester Road.
New cycle lanes would be created on Manchester Road as part of the plans.
Controversial plans to build 146 homes on green space in South Bradford are approved
At a meeting of Bradford Council's Regulatory and Appeals Committee on Thursday, members approved plans for a 146 home development off Rooley Crescent. That application, by Caddick Land, includes a new access road, which would meet park and ride specifications, that passes through the housing site and to the planned park and ride - which will be built on land to the West of the development.
Planning officer Malcolm Joy told members that although there was a rough idea where the park and ride would be, there was no site that had yet been confirmed, adding: "At the moment we don't know how big it is going to be."
Two multi-million pound Bradford transport schemes could finish up to 20 months behind schedule
He told members: "I expect an application for that park and ride will be submitted by the end of the year."
Documents released by West Yorkshire Combined Authority last month revealed that despite the completion deadline for Transforming Cities Projects being March 2023, the park and ride was unlikely to be completed until December 2024.
