POLICE investigating a robbery in which a car was stolen in Cleckheaton are appealing for information.
It happened at about 1.30pm on Wednesday when the 80-year-old victim attended the car park of Tesco in Serpentine Road to use the bottle bank.
While using the bottle bank he noticed a man had got into his car, a black VW Touareg, and was sitting in the driver’s seat.
An altercation then ensued which resulted in the suspect driving the car away.
The vehicle was last seen in St Peg Lane heading towards Gomersal.
Detective Constable Chris Eglen, of Kirklees District CID, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has seen the car since the incident.
“We know the suspect had a cut to the right of his right eyebrow, which we believe he suffered as he struggled with the victim.
“We believe the car will also have some damage to it, as it struck another vehicle as it left the car park.”
Anyone with information which may assist this investigation is asked to contact Kirklees District CID on 101, or by using the options on the West Yorkshire Police website.
The crime reference is 13210314489.
